The Beacon

The Beacon is a grassroots community newspaper in the true sense of the word. It is operated by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and is supported by advertisers, donations, and community organizations.

The Beacon celebrated its 45th year in publication in March 2023 with the first issue being published March 1978. It was hand printed for the first four months of production by some very dedicated volunteers.

The paper prints ten (10) issues a year with over 2000 printed copies in circulation in various location around Eastern Passage, Cow Bay, Shearwater and beyond free of charge, and a reach of over 5000 on social media with the full colour digital copy
