COMMUNITY PROFILE

Eastern Passage and Area is a place to live, work and play with the quality of life that everyone strives for.  It has all the amenities you need from a suburban community and is within a 15-minute drive to Dartmouth and another 10-minutes to Halifax. This area of HRM is the ideal location for growing families with community parks and trails all over the area, beaches, affordable housing, bus routes, excellent schools, and more.

Don’t let the size fool you! Eastern Passage & Area offers the feel of small-town living, but you’ll be surprised by the abundance of activities, beautiful scenery, and amenities this community offers. Located at the entrance of the Halifax Harbour, Eastern Passage is a 20-minute drive from Downtown Halifax. Rich in history tied to the fishing industry, its waterfront has many small wharves and piers. Stroll the picturesque boardwalk of Fisherman’s Cove (a restored fishing village that is over 200 years old!) and visit the many shops and eateries where you will find delicious food, Maritime crafts, local paintings, unique folk art, and souvenirs to bring home.

Eastern Passage is also near many of Nova Scotia’s beautiful beaches and there are many beachside homes in the area. Home to CFB Shearwater, a military air base, at the northern boundary of the community, oil refineries and lots of amenities offered.

Eastern Passage and Area is essentially made up of three communities; Shearwater, Eastern Passage, and Cow Bay.
